Description
Outdoor Research’s Microgravity Jacket ushers in a new era in waterproof and breathable shells. You now have a wind and waterproof shell jacket that is both durable and breaths like never before! Because of this it extends itself from wet weekend hikes on the coast to high alpine adventures. Oh… and did we mention it also has stretch…?Â
The standout feature to the new MicroGravity Jacket is Outdoor Research’s own AscentShell fabric. it uses an electrospun process that makes a 3 layer shell fabric that weighs less, breaths more, stretches and gives you the protection you need from the elements. It means that whether you’re skinning uphill on a backcountry ski trip, navigating your way around a Blue Mountain’s bushwalking while it’s bucketing down, just travelling and living out of a backpack or hitting the greater hills, you’ve got one jacket that is not only “performance oriented”, but can do the lot.Â
Here at Mountain Equipment we usually try to categorise shell jackets as Alpine, Bushwalking, Travel and Trail Run. The OR MicroGravity though pretty much crosses them all. The only thing we wouldn’t recommend it for is probably for your trail running mandatory kit as you can get much lighter in the Helium Jacket.Â
